Road to Dago
Documentary
25´
2010
Director: Filipe Masetti Leite and Robin Pierro

The Road to Dago is a documentary that focuses on the impact one woman, living with HIV, had on her community in rural Western Kenya.

The film follows her mission to eradicate the disease that has plagued her village for many years. Thanks to a locally run women's mentorship program, that educates the community on AID's prevention strategies and also empowers HIV positive people, the community has began to make huge strides.

Throughout the documentary, filmmakers Robin Pierro and Filipe Leite investigate the cultural issues of Polygamy and Wife Inheritance that contribute to the spread of the virus. The film is not another "AID's in Africa" documentary, rather, it is a film that will inspire and empower it's audience. It's a story that represents the change, resilience and dedication of a tight-knit community who are tired of suffering.

After returning home from Kenya, Robin and Filipe learnt that the funders of the mentorship program were going to end their financial support. This came as a shock to the community, who are only halfway along the road to recovery, but now face a dead end.

This film will hopefully be able to gather enough attention and awareness to this potential roadblock for the Dago community.
